Ainsley Speir stares at the note in her hand, reading the scrawled words for the thousandth time:

Your target is Cormac Thorne

Fear fills her when she reads the name. She knows it well. The Laird of the Nightshade Clan. But how do you murder the leader of a clan of assassins, especially when the sight of him makes her toes curl in her boots and her pulse race?

Cormac stares at the beautiful silver-haired woman his men drag before him, not for a second believing her story of running from a murderous lover. She’s too full of fire to run away, he can see it in her eyes.

It’s lucky really, the Nightshade Clan needs a new Lady, and this little spitfire is perfect for the role. But how can he convince her to stay when she won’t share her secret with him?
